About the event
A 2 and a half day intensive camp with Denise O'Reilly aimed at those wanting to compete/train at Novice / Elementary. There will be a high degree of individual attention, as well as group talks, to help you get to grip with the trickier bits when you are new to these levels (or struggling to get higher scores. Whether you want to work on your medium trot and canter, rein backs, counter canters or walk pirouettes, this course has everything you need to get you up at that next level. PROGRAMME - Friday pm arrive any time after 2pm, private 30 mins assessment lesson, chance to settle in / hack round the farm track followed by evening goal setting. Supper not included, but there are several lovely local pubs/ takeaways. Saturday from 9.30am Group Lecture 'Equine and Rider Biomechanics of ''the uphill frame'' and developing the medium paces' followed by private 45 minute lessons with some video taken. The afternoon gives everyone chance to have a look at video snippets, and in the evening there is a talk by Genevieve Kirk - who in addition to being a first class Veterinary Physiotherapist (see Kirk Equine Performance) has also ridden Inter 1 FEI for Australia. Her talk is centred around maintaining and improving the performance horse using some very valuable tips and exercises. This is then followed by a BBQ (included in the course price, but please bring your own alcohol). Sunday morning starts (hopefully with not too many sore heads!) at 9.30am with a group lecture 'Equine and rider training for rein back counter - canter and simple changes, followed by private lessons and a few more video snippets in the afternoon, before leaving TDS around 4pm, armed with a host of new skills and ideas. Each rider will have time to discuss an individual plan whilst viewing their videos on the final day. COST - £245 / OWN HORSE £305 ON TDS HORSE (limited places) WHAT IS INCLUDED - All coaching, lectures, Saturday BBQ, stabling, pellet bedding, hay or haylage, tea/ coffee/ squash throughout the day. On our horses, all care plus tacking up/ untacking in addition to the above. WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED - all other meals (we have fridges / freezers / microwave and the all important kettle (and bottle opener!), any livery services for your own horse (can be booked as an extra), videos to take home (please ask another course participant to do some more lengthy video on your own phone.
